5 Helpful Tips to Jump Start Your Car

Battery Repacement

It’s a sinking feeling when you keep turning the key in the ignition to start the car but it won’t start. Despite hundred tries, it fails to work. Many drivers have experienced this feeling at one time or another in their life.

Whether the battery of your car is old or you’ve abused it by leaving the lights on the entire night, even the reliable cars won’t start if their batteries are drained out. If you have been in a situation where you think that your battery has given up, you might want to consider Jump Starts and Battery Replacement.

To safely jump start your car, here are the steps –

Take out the jumper cables – Of course, to jump start a car, you need jumper cables. If you own a car, it’s a wise idea to buy quality jumper cables and keep them in your car. And if you don’t have jumper cables, it’s time to find a good Samaritan who is not only willing to provide you the jumper cables but also assists in jump starting your car.

Park the cars together – If you have found a good Samaritan, put both the cars in park or neutral gear and place them together. Also, shut off the ignition of both the car to safely jump start a car.

Attach the cables – Now attach one of the red clips of the cables to the positive terminal of your battery and the black clip of the cable to the negative terminal of another car’s battery. Now attach the black clip of the other cable to the negative terminal of your car’s battery and the last black clip to a metal surface which is not painted. Also, make sure the metal surface is nowhere near the battery.

Start the engine – Now start the engine of the working car. Let it run for a few minutes. After a few minutes, start your car. If it doesn’t start, make sure the cables are connected properly and let the other car run for another five minutes. It should charge your car’s battery by now.

If your car starts, don’t turn the engine off. Let it run and drive around your car for 15 minutes to properly charge your car’s battery.

Following the aforementioned steps should help you jump start your car. Also, if your car jump starts but needs battery replacement, don’t delay. A drained battery can cause a lot of other problems to your car.

If you are not comfortable in jump starting your vehicle, it’s best to call professionals. They are experienced and have the right tools to get the job done in the least possible time.
